MAMA at the Construct Show (the Construction Specifiers Institute Convention) at the Baltimore Convention Center.
Thank you to:
Scott Bryan and the KaRon boys who did a great job building the wall and we thank them as well
for donating the materials for the wall build.
The following members for taking their time to work the booth on our behalf:
Greg McElwee – Dave Hayes – Brian Reilly – Robert Radford – Mike Simon – Joe Knott – Jack
Kennedy – Ed Biermesser – Brian Trimble – Barry Diller – Mark Williams – Lynne DeWitt.
The message promoted by us at the booth is that in the new TMS 402 standard, the
design strengths have increased on the standard wall from 1,500psi to 2,000psi. This increase
allows for less reinforcement and grout in the wall and therefore a less costly yet structurally
sound and proven wall system. Also, we can provide continuous insulation and the R-Value
that is needed for a building. The wall section also includes block and brick. Handout
materials were available at the booth.
The wall as it is shown is R 14 with 2 inches of extruded
polystyrene. BUT if you were to use 2 inches of polyisocyanurate insulation, the R-value will be
just over 20. Of note: A closed cell foam insulation would be halfway in-between at 17.
We are happy to have participated in this show and represent the masonry industry to the specifiers in attendance. |
